You want to change them before the pin rubs into the spring. Mine ( right rear) was a little bit rubbed out of round, but wasn’t a big deal. Bushings still went in and no problems.

The lower bolt was bumping into the front drive shaft and would not come out all the way. Biggest problem I was having seemed to be I could not get the axle to drop far enough to release the pressure on the bolts in the shackle.

All the rear spring shackle does is hold the rear of the spring to the rear of the frame. They should be about 5" long with 2 bushing on the top and two that go into the spring.
